Work Life is a faith-based job education curriculum designed by the Chalmers Center for Economic Development to teach "soft-skills" of work to those coming from generational poverty. This 7-10 week class walks our job-training employees through God's good design for work in Scripture at Creation, overcoming roadblocks to success, sharing our stories, conflict resolution, and resume and interview skills.
Each participant that takes the class can opt to be connected with Ally volunteers who walk with them as mentors and disciplers. This is a key piece for participants achieving success in this program. The role of an Ally is to volunteer in class, and if assigned to a participant, check-in or meet with them weekly while they are in the Work Life class. Ally volunteers who are paired with a participant commit to meeting weekly during the class and bi-weekly after for 12-months.
